COVID-19: What we’re doing and how you can help

March 16, 2020

Friends and colleagues,

It’s hard to overstate what we’re facing right now in Los Angeles and beyond. But while we know there are huge challenges ahead, I’ve been heartened by the sheer number of foundations, nonprofits, and individuals saying “what can I do to help?” This is the attitude that will save lives in the short run, and strengthen communities in the long run.

In that spirit, there are two key items we want to share. First, we are announcing increased grant flexibility. Second, we want to share your creative solutions with other intergenerational organizations.

If you are a current grantee, we are happy to convert any restricted funds to general operating support. In addition, we are suspending all reporting requirements until further notice. We know you have more important things to do right now than file a report with us, and we know that we can trust you to utilize our funds as most needed. If you have any questions about your grant, please email cathy.choi@eisnerfoundation.org. If you have other questions, please email info@eisnerfoundation.org.

We are also inspired by the quick thinking and creativity many of you are demonstrating right now. Your work can also move others, so we are compiling a list of ways intergenerational organizations are responding to program suspension. If you are implementing new ideas in your work, please email chelsea.mason@eisnerfoundation.org. We also want to hear about your needs and challenges – if there’s something you think we can help with, please let us know.

I know you are all working hard to serve our communities, and I am grateful for your efforts. We are thinking of you. Stay safe.
